Naxos
Offering a versatile kiteboarding experience

Naxos Island is the surfing paradise for beginners or advanced surfers. The wind speed of 4-5 Bft in Agios Georgios bay is ideal for slalom boards and 6 Bft for wave freaks where there are waves between 1-2.5m high breaking on offshore reefs. The place is ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers to get in touch with surfing or to perfect their skills. Mikri Vigla is an excellent place for wind and kite surfing. If you want to combine kite and windsurfing in Naxos in one place, this is it.

There are two surf centers for equipment rental and training. If you are individual and have your own gear just go and enjoy. In Plaka Beach there is a water sports center where you can rent equipment and train. Kalstraki (Glyfada) and Alyko (the northern part of Alyko) are two other excellent spots for windsurfers.

The strong and consistent winds from May to September, Agios Ioannis make it a great spot for beginners and advanced riders alike. Lefkada hosts one of the largest marinas in Greece. From there you can hire a boat and cruise around the island or explore the neighboring islands of Kefalonia, Corfu and Ithaca, as well as Scorpio and Meganisi. In the north, the meeting place for kite surfers, you will find the two main kite surfing spots Milos Beach and Agios Nikolaos, which are right in front of the main island. While most Lefkada visitors come from neighboring countries, the island has been attracting well-known kitesurfing enthusiasts from all over Europe for years. Agios Nikolaos is the perfect beach for beginners as the mild wind is combined with shallow water and a sandy environment. Advanced kitesurfers prefer the lagoon on the other side of the beach, which is shallow and perfect for practicing freestyle whereas Milos beach attracts experienced kite surfers.
